Bailer

Rock // Dublin, Dublin

Bailer’s Story began in Dublin in 2001 when an aspiring singer with a huge voice named Caitriona McGuinness answered a music magazine ad from guitarist / songwriter Maurice Brennan. It was to be the start of a musically lucrative and solid partnership that would result in the formation of their band Bailer. Searches for other like-minded musicians brought in Gene Murphy on bass and drummer Frank Chircop. The band released their self-produced EP “In The City” in 2004. A change in lineup in 2005 saw the addition of bassist Peter Jordan and later that year the recording of their Single “Tonight” produced by Martin Quinn in Jam Studios, Co Meath. In advance of this release the Band were special guests to Aslan at the Point Depot (now the 3 Arena) when they played to over 7000 people. The release of the atmospheric follow up single “Watch Out!” built on the national and regional local radio play of “Tonight”.

Residencies over two years in “Cafe en Seine” and “The Church” in Dublin informed the acoustic oriented material that made up their debut album “Running” released in 2008 and mastered by US industry legend Bob Katz. The sound was augmented by a four piece brass section featuring Irish sax supremo Michael Buckley.

Following the departure of Frank Chircop in 2009 the band took the opportunity to record, rehearse and tour with some excellent session drummers like Dylan Lynch (Little Green Cars) and performed in the UK and France. Bailer released their third single “Daylight” in 2010. It was mixed by Grammy award winning engineer Kevin Killen (Peter Gabriel, Elvis Costello). This was followed by the release of “Sometimes” single in 2011. As well as playing their own shows Bailer continued to open for a range of leading Irish acts like Hothouse Flowers, Aslan, Brian Kennedy, Mick Flannery and played in great venues like The Olympia Theatre, The Helix and Dolan’s. They continued to tour Ireland and performed on radio stations like 98FM, FM104 and Northern Sound.

Fast forward to January 2015! The band is proud to announce the release of “Hearts and Lies”. The new album showcases 11 original tracks which are the realisation of first takes, live recording and friendship.
