David Skinner

Acoustic // Mallow, Cork

David Skinner,is a genuinely rare talent on the guitar. Just turned 20 his musicianship and performance are those of a real veteran. In his show David plays a unique blend of Tommy Emmanuel style guitar pieces puncuated with heart-felt blues numbers, inspired originals, and songs from ledgends such as Bob Dylan and Randy Newman.

Mike Hanrahan (Stocktons wing) invited David to play a couple of months ago and was later quoted in the papers saying that David "really knows his way around a fretboard" and how "he plays beautifully". After playing Indiependence Festival 2013, Jackie Hayden (Hotpress) said "David is definitely one to watch!"

Along with recent performances in venues like Indiependence 2013, The Cork Opera House, DeBarra's (Clonakilty), Cobblestone Joes (Limerick), Scott's Hotel (Killarney) and not forgetting Courtney's also in Killarney where they advertised David as an "Acoustic Virtuoso", he has been filmed for Balcony TV and a festival documentary that aired December 2013 on Setanta.

David’s talents have brought him to the attention of guitar greats such as Joe Satriani and Tommy Emmanuel, both of whom sent backstage invites during their last visit to Ireland, and by the age of 16 had already added television performances to his resume. In print, reporters have declared that "David's dexterity with a guitar left me green with envy” and “the guitar is nothing short of an extension”.
