Dead School
County Cork
Having spent an intense few months holed up, writing songs and honing their sound, it is clear that these guys have managed to create their own full-on sonicscape; dark and unsettling, but by no means sedate.
Formed in August 2010, the band have quickly developed a real stage presence - having played over 100 gigs to date including their 1st UK shows. When you catch it live, you’ll realise why there is such early interest in Dead School.
The post-punk terrain has been covered before, but Dead School bring elements of this sound kicking and screaming into 2012. You’ve been warned.
The band released two double A singles in their 1st twelve months, ‘Frailties/Standing on the Edge’ in April and '3:17 / Exude' in Aug, both to great acclaim and have been receiving very positive reviews(Hot Press, Drop D.ie, Goldenplec etc) and consistent airplay on both National and Regional Radio since the releases, notching up over 150 national plays including plays on BBC. They have been championed by Paul Mcloone (Today FM) and tipped for the top in 2012 by Cormac Battles(2 FM). The Band have already recorded live sessions for Today FM, Red FM,96 FM, Beat FM, Tipp FM, Galway Bay FM, 98 FM and KLCR.
Dead school have also played the Hot Press Freezer sessions in June and the Indiependence Music Festival in July, The Free Fringe Festival in August and Blazing Horse Festival in Sept, they reached the regional Finals of the Arthurs day play on the day and took part in the IMRO tour. They have also played support to such acts as 'And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead', 'Whipping Boy', 'The Minutes', Fight Like Like Apes' just to mention a few.
2012 is already shaping already up nicely for 'Dead School' with the release of their 3rd single 'Incisions' on the 24th of Feb and a 15 date tour of the UK in support of their debut UK release 'Frailties', kicking off on the 8th of Mar In Edinburgh and finishing up in London on the 24th. Dead School release their debut album in June.
The future looks bright for Dead School.
