Ego the Jackal

Folk // Derry, Derry

“One of the best songwriters I have ever heard”
- Stephen McCauley (BBC Radio Ulster)

Ego the Jackal is the alias of Derry city born Singer/Songwriter, Connor McGowan.

After the split of the Northern Irish, alternative rock band, ‘Skruff’ – which Connor fronted for almost a decade, work began in early 2011 on an acoustic solo project, influenced by the folksy, haunting soundscapes of artists such as Leonard Cohen, Joan Baez & Robyn Pecknold (Fleet Foxes).

‘Great Ocean Conveyor’ is the 1st studio album by Ego the Jackal. Recorded in its entirety by Connor from the comfort of his modest home studio, ‘Great Ocean Conveyor’, with its soaring melodies and beautiful, etheric instrumentation, undoubtedly showcases the artist’s best work to date. The album was released on the 28th March, 2014. Visit www.egothejackal.com for further information.
