Fiona Maria Fitzpatrick

Folk // Co. Donegal, Co. Cavan, Dublin

Fiona Maria Fitzpatrick hails from the lapping lakeshores of County Cavan but dwells somewhere between dreams and the heavenly headlands of County Donegal.

The Darling Buds Of… are songstress Orla Fitzpatrick & pianist Niamh Currid. A shared affection for the wilderness and her many fine splendors has divinely fastened this bunch together, sounding out waves which are warm, harmonious and fringed with a little "MAGIC".

November’s self-release of an eagerly awaited EP - ‘Kitty’s Cardigan’, has left the birds tweeting, the bells resounding in celebration and good hope that these ‘buds’ will bear many a fine fruit for seasons to come.

Expect to be taken captive, infused with divine love and go forth with a desire to hug thy neighbour

“…sits somewhere between the most optimistic Joni Mitchell and the bewitching Sean Nós singers of times gone by. Fiona Maria is reinventing the Irish Ballad for today’s music lovers with her talent for story-telling and her beautiful lilting tones.”
InDublin Magazine

“Fiona is bewitching, quite literally. Her stage presence has more than a touch of magic, and her lyrics are poetic and pretty and poignant. At times depending solely on stunning three part harmonies, a cappella, at others with a veritable riot of sound emanating from the stage, this is an act like no other.”
Kate Winter - Scene In Sligo

“... ‘Kitty’s Cardigan’ is refreshingly loose and live and the songs are those of a songwriter with a great imagination. I've had the girls in "live" on my radio programme and whereas the music was serious, the craic was only mighty.”
Charlie McGettigan (The Arts Hour-CD of the Week)
