Hunter Shy

Tramore, County Waterford

Hunter's fascination with music began when learning to play the tin whistle in primary school. Although she admits to have been one of the worst players in class, it was an undeveloped love of music that encouraged her (age 13) to learn the flute. Alongside music, Hunter's main passion was poetry and story writing, and had been creatively writing for as long as she could remember. It was only summer 2015 where both interests combined, after watching her brother use a loop pedal to build a thick sound with just his guitar. Inspired by her brother but more so her competitive nature, she wrote her first song "Outside the Window", with a simple beat and haunting vocal melody. Since then, Hunter has been writing original material, and has developed her own unique sound and style rooted from blues, soul, and jazz music. Only recently did Hunter decide to leave university in Galway (January 2016), and fully commit to her passion of creating and preforming original music.
