John Deery and The Heads
Derry, County Derry
Derry based band John Deery & The Heads have made a huge impression across Ireland and the UK since bursting onto the scene in early 2010.
Formed by singer songwriter John after a number of years building up a successful solo career, The Heads quickly started to grab people’s attention, including the attention of renowned Irish producer David Odlum (former guitarist and producer of The Frames, Gemma Hayes etc) who produced their debut album ‘Smoke & Mirrors’. Recorded in Black Box Studios in France, the album began to get regular radio play on the likes of Stephen McCauley’s Electric Mainline, BBC Introducing, Mark Patterson, Across the Line and Gerry Anderson’s BBC Radio Ulster show as well as many other shows and stations across the UK.
The band set about a busy touring schedule, building up an impressive fanbase through the likes of Facebook and Myspace (over 1000 fans on each), as well as their renowned live shows. Gigs including Rockness Festival in Scotland, Belfast’s Open House Festival, The Roisin Dubh, Whelans in Dublin, Black Box and No Alibi’s in Belfast and many other prominent venues across the UK and Ireland have helped The Heads develop their live show and continually impress fans and critics alike. A number of live performances on BBC Radio Foyle and Radio Ulster have allowed the band to cement their reputation and broaden their ever-growing fanbase.
With a string of gigs lined up for 2011 and plans for a busy Summer Festival season, the band look set to keep turning heads wherever they go.
