LADYDOLL
COUNTY CORK
LadyDoll are an up-and-coming alternative rock band, who are going from strength to strength and emerging as one of Ireland’s leading rock bands. LadyDoll released their debut album, ‘The Knife Thrower and His Wife’ in early 2010, and with the launch of the album, LadyDoll have been propelled onto the Irish & UK music scene.
LadyDoll have been touring the UK and Ireland in support of the album, and along with national radio coverage, and a live TV performance on RTE2’s The Café, LadyDoll have seen their popularity soar. On top of that, LadyDoll have just won the much sought after Jack Daniels JD Set, beating off stiff competition from some of Ireland’s best up and coming bands, as well as impressing the panel of judges, including Tim Burgess of The Charlatans.
LadyDoll's music would be most suitably classified under the genre of 'Dark Rock' infused with pop undertones, which are evident in the lyrical and melodic hooks heard across the range of the band's repertoire. Intricate guitar solos and vamp-like piano sequences provide the perfect backdrop to the cleverly-placed and often dark and melancholic lyrical content, which HotPress describes as ‘eerily brilliant’
LadyDoll's great start to the year isn’t about to stop, with the band playing support to Cathy Davey on her Irish tour, a spot on the Irish summer festival circuit, and another visit to the UK. 2010 is promising to be LadyDoll's best year yet. Watch this space!!
The album ‘The Knife Thrower and His Wife’ (mixed by Adrian Bushby of Muse and Foo Fighters fame) is available from Tower Records Dublin, HMV Cork and iTunes.
