Lamont/Bailey/Wall play electronic influenced pop music.
Ian Lamont and Patrick Wall met studying music and media technologies in Trinity College Dublin. Bassist James Bailey is an old friend of Patrick's. Hot Press called them “boisterous, experimental and nonchalantly funky" - to which you could add smoothly catchy and a bit neurotic.
Lamont/Bailey/Wall's debut album BOOM! was released in June 2018.
BOOM! is a labour of love that was crafted in bedrooms, living rooms, and rehearsal rooms over the last five years. Brendan Jenkinson [Cloud Castle Lake, Davy Kehoe, Cian Nugent & the Cosmos] provided the mix for the album which glues all the band’s ideas into a coherent work.
Musically, the album is full of bold, colourful, summery pop music that's awash with ’80s references — Talk Talk, Remain In Light, Graceland, Prefab Sprout, Michael Jackson, a-Ha. Lyrically the album focusses on the boom-bust-boom economic cycle, as well as other matters of the heart and head.
L/B/W recently gained two new members - fellow Dubliner Cillian Murphy on sax and Scotsman Yann Chalmers on various electronics. After a hiatus making the album, the band has now returned to playing live with a pair of dangerously packed gigs upstairs in Anseo on Camden Street.
