With a powerful, unique voice, and songs full of deeply affecting melodies,Dublin born singer-songwriter Lisa Cuthbert demonstrates an ease and fluidity in her songwriting that belie strong and often haunting undercurrents.
Described as “a darker Tori Amos” (Jackie Hayden, Hot Press Magazine) Lisa navigates the ferocity of raw emotion with unwavering confidence and vision, breathlessly incorporating hard rock, electronic, and folk influences.
Her “magical” solo performances have mesmerized audiences throughout Europe. Lisa has appeared as a backing vocalist with The Sisters of Mercy and also as a soloist during their set at the Amphi Festival in Köln (2012) performing her solo version of their hit "This Corrosion" armed with just her piano and her voice.
A consummate performer, she tours frequently and has previously supported UK prog gods Marillion for their sold- out holiday show in Amsterdam, Anneke Van Giersbergen (ex-The Gathering), David Eugene Edwards’ acclaimed alt-Americana band Wovenhand, and Kris Force’s dark neoclassical project Amber Asylum.
Lisa released her second studio album entitled "Paramour" at the end of 2013. It is inspired by the stories of former inmates at Ireland’s now defunct Magdalene Laundries. The Laundries were institutions founded in the 19th century for the rehabilitation of “fallen women” – unwed mothers, prostitutes and the mentally ill to name a few – their stories also serve as a point of reference for Cuthbert’s own past experiences at a convent school in Dublin.
"Paramour" is LC's darkest work to date, and in order to do it justice in a live setting, she formed the current line-up:
Marvin Morelle - Drums
Yohann J. Bizeul - Bass guitar
Antoine Doin - Guitar
2014 has already been a busy and rewarding year for LC's band, with the rearranging and recording of new and old tracks in the studio, live video shoots and a European tour supporting Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman, Yngwie Malmsteen, Journey). Now the band continue to book concert dates throughout Europe while preparing LC's next release.
