With an angelic voice reminiscent of Sarah McLachlan and songs full of profoundly emotional melodies, Dublin born singer-songwriter Lisa Cuthbert demonstrates an ease and fluidity in her songwriting that belie powerful undercurrents. Described by Hot Press as a "darker Tori Amos", she navigates the ferocity of raw emotion with unwavering confidence and vision.
Best known for her appearances with Anathema-related projects Antimatter and Ion, Lisa’s solo performances - often praised as "magical" and "mesmerizing" - continue to thrill audiences throughout the UK and Europe. For the second time in the past year, she supported UK prog rock gods Marillion (Paradiso, Amsterdam 28 Nov 2011), and she recently played as both a touring member of Antimatter in Poland and as headliner for a series of shows in Berlin, Dresden, and Koln.
A consummate performer, Lisa has previously supported David Eugene Edwards’ acclaimed alt-Americana band Wovenhand and Kris Force’s dark neoclassical project Amber Asylum. Lisa is preparing her second studio album, Paramour, inspired by the stories of female inmates at Ireland's now defunct Magdalene Asylum laundries, with a recently launched crowdfunding campaign to finance its recording (go here for more information: http://bit.ly/wKjsS2) The new material is scheduled for an autumn 2012 release.
Lisa is available for 2012 bookings throughout Europe and the UK and will be performing at the following festivals : Teylingerfest (NL) June 16-17; Castlefest, (NL) Aug. 3-5; Roots North (UK) Sept. 21-23). She is also accepting enquiries for both vocal and/or piano session work.
