Paul King

Soul // Galway City, Galway

The release of Paul King’s debut album in late 2010 perfectly encapsulated the inspiration of artists as diverse as Prince, Stevie Wonder, The Meters, Ernest Ranglin and The Wailers. Having starting the project as a solo album, the project grew to involve a number of musicians, each bringing their own styles. Paul King and Stone Cold currently compromise a further guitarist, lead singer, bassist, drummer, percussionist, and a brass section to drive their trademark funk style.

Within a short time period, the band has clocked up gigs at some of Ireland’s foremost venues, notably Roisin Dubh in Galway, and Dolan’s Warehouse in Limerick. A reputation for an impressive live experience has secured support slots with the Republic of Loose, Toto’s Bobby Kimball, and funk icons Brassroots at the renowned Galway Arts festival. The band’s regular slots in the fast emerging Monroe’s Mainstage venue earned them TV slots for GAF TV and Balcony TV, as well as earning them radio play on a number of stations; Galway Bay FM, ICR in Donegal, and Rascal Radio.

An online video presence was an acknowledgement of the importance of new media outlets in gaining fans. Four videos are available online, clocking up hits, while more are planned to showcase the band's sound.

The upcoming year will see the band record a follow-up album as well as a tour across Ireland and the UK (having already lined up dates supporting Brassroots on their tour).
