Prairie Dawgs

Folk // Dublin, Dublin

The Prairie Dawgs started out as a Country Duo & like the rodents of the famous expansive prairies of Dublin soon multiplied to the 7 pce Folk n Roots act they are today! The Dawgs quickly established themselves on the live scene by setting up the much acclaimed Tumbleweed Love Sessions at the Cobblestone where to this day you can hear them (& guests) play on the 2nd sat of every month!

In 2009 they released their eponymous debut album which was lauded as "A Winning Proposition" by Eamonn Carr (Horslips, Evening Herald, Hot Press). "proper rootsy folk music composed to make you feel good about life!..........with wonderful vocals, strings and harmonies"

In 2011 The Dawgs retired to a rural location in the shadow of the Mourne Mountains to record their follow up "Halfway to Poughkeepsie" a new collection of finely crafted songs with refined lyrics and close vocal harmonies. The collection includes ballads, blues, stomps, and folk blues performed with characteristic flair by the multi-instrumental 7 piece. With a nod of the hat to Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Tom Waits, and Ella Fitzgerald, the influences are many, but the sound is totally unique to the Dawgs. www.theprairiedawgs.com

"Halway to Poughkeepsie" was released in June 2012 and is available on iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, Rhapsody, Spotify and many other top online stores and will soon be availabe at Tower Records and other record stores nationwide.

"(Halfway to Poughkeepsie) is full of well written tales......good time songs which make you smile and sway". 2 U I Bestow Blog Review.
