RAID are a hugely entertaining and animated four piece band hailing from South Dublin. They are a massive crowd pleaser, playing classic rock and blues from the likes of Status Quo, AC/DC, Thin Lizzy and Eric Clapton, blended with originals which give their own take on the genre. Dynamic frontman Richie Malone (whose voice was described on Twitter by drummer of The Script, Glen Power as “the best rock vocal I’ve heard in years”) keeps the crowd entertained with his fluent in-between-song banter and crowd participation skills. Talented lead guitarist Jason Forbes, funky bassist Keith Cooper and endlessly energetic drummer Alan Smyth also make sure that anyone who comes to see RAID are guaranteed to enjoy themselves and see a damn good show. RAID have clocked up both headline and support slots all over Ireland including two headline slots in Whelans in Dublin, several headline slots in the Mezz music venue in Temple Bar, a headline slot in Cloister’s Pub in Portlaoise, numerous gigs in Kiely’s in Mount Merrion , two Guinness Gig Rigs and a headline slot at The Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures in 2009. They also play monthly slots in Walters Bar in Dun Laoghaire as a house band and have just been confirmed by the Mezz in Dublin as a regular Tuesday night house band. Most recently, RAID took to the main stage after the American Drifters at the Wicklow Sailfest on Saturday 19th June and closed off the night for the huge crowd with their blend of classic hard rock and blues. They received a thundering approval from the masses and their exciting show was one of the highlights of the festival. After numerous requests from their followers for a c.d. of original material, RAID’s debut E.P. is currently in production, with the band recording several songs in Beechpark Studios in Rathcoole. The E.P is scheduled for release over the summer.
