Tandragee, County Armagh
Hailing from Armagh in Northern Ireland, Silences are Conchúr White, Christopher Harbinson, Breándan White, Jonathan Downing and Michael Keyes. The band have featured on BBC Radio 1, RTE Other Voices and have received critical acclaim for their debut E.P. 'Nevernames' and the subsequent release ‘Sister Snow’.
Working closely with producer Declan Legge, they have managed to capture a sound that 'Goldenplec' has described as: "a lesson in understated inventiveness that quickly charms the listener into willing surrender". Comparisons have been drawn to the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Jeff Buckley, Villagers and Coldplay.
Less than a year after their inception as a five piece group and having already played the Other Voices Other Room in Derry, Silences were asked to perform on the Other Voices stage at Electric Picnic 2014 alongside Hozier, St Vincent and Laura Mvula. In December 2014 they were invited to play Huw Stephen’s Christmas party in London. Both their debut single ‘Santa Cruz’ and the follow up ‘Sister Snow’ have had Radio one play with Phil & Alice and Huw Stephens respectively. ‘Sister Snow’ was also playlisted and charted on Amazing Radio.
So far, 2015 has seen the release of their new single 'The Sea' which has clocked up 19,000 plays on Soundcloud in 2 months and 2 very successful shows at the The Great Escape in May.
