Sinead Coll

Acoustic // Belfast, Antrim

Sinead Coll is a singer-songwriter based in Belfast. Her song writing explores folk, rock, bluegrass and country influences, to tell confessional and observational stories with a clear, honest voice.

Originally from Omagh, Sinead has been singing since she could speak. Her powerful voice has mesmerized audiences from her Granny’s local in Donegal to the Grand Opera House, Belfast. A prolific and consistent songwriter, Sinead consistently challenges herself lyrically, melodically and vocally to explore different experiences, ideas and music genres through acoustic songwriting.

Sinead's debut single, "Donegal" is a folk and trad influenced ballad which explores the significance of her mother's home county in her heritage. The lyrics are personal and intimate while resonating widely with the Irish diaspora. The "B" side, "Small Town Summer Sunset" delves further into this idea of home, recalling the early teen innocent pleasures of long summer evenings with friends in her home town. The single features the lush textures of Sinead's own arrangements for guitar, violin, cello and percussion.

Sinead is currently gigging solo and with her band which includes the very talented Matt Hewer on percussion, Kate Mesarosova on Violin and Andy Turner on Cello.

Sinead is currently recording an EP "Trying To Be Brave". This recording will showcase the range of Sinead's voice and songwriting, including tracks with a harder, rock edge than was heard in her earlier single. Inspired by the title track, all songs on the EP will explore different facets of bravery and move from the personal to the political.

Recent performance highlights include an intimate gig at Belfast's No Alibis Bookstore, regular spots at the Empire Belfast Society Sessions. Sinead has packed out the Sunflower Bar, Belfast at her and drawn crowds at the Bluegrass Festival in the Folk Park, Omagh. She has also performed at the Ballyshannon Folk Festival; Strule Arts Centre, Omagh; Chicks with Picks at the Black Box, Belfast; Lavery's Belfast; Dawsons Stage at the Belnash Festival, Belfast and opened for Wookalily at the John Hewitt, Belfast. She was also a finalist in the Clonmany Music Festival song writing competition.
