sonderUs is band based in Dublin.
The name 'sonderUs' stems from the word 'sonder', and 'us'.
The word 'sonder' is defined as the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own
The band 'SonderUs' writes songs aiming to the listener as the main character - the protagonist - the star at the center of your own unfolding story. You're surrounded by your supporting cast: friends and family hanging in your immediate orbit.
Scattered a little further out, a network of acquaintances who drift in and out of contact over the years.
But there in the background, faint and out of focus, are the extras. The random passersby. Each living a life as vivid and complex as your own.
They carry on invisibly around you, bearing the accumulated weight of their own ambitions, friends, routines, mistakes, worries, triumphs and inherited craziness.
When your life moves on to the next scene, theirs flickers in place, wrapped in a cloud of backstory and inside jokes and characters strung together with countless other stories you'll never be able to see. That you'll never know exists.
In which you might appear only once. As an extra sipping coffee in the background. As a blur of traffic passing on the highway. As a lighted window at dusk."
The 'Us' part puts every individual at the centre of the sonder.
This youtube video paints the band name well;
The band sonderUs consists of guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals. The genre of music is alternative rock/pop.
Debut single 'Mermaids Dress' is set for release soon in 2017 with more releases to follow, plus an album entitled 'Déjà Vu' produced by Gerry Hendrick of the 'Gerry Hendrick Band' later in the year.
The debut single deals with issues of masculinity, the perception of masculinity, and self - realization.
To coincide with the release of the single Mermaids Dress, top animator and artist extraordinaire Marc Corrigan has directed a hotly anticipated music video. The video cross-overs the same themes. It is set in the 17 century and is inspired by etchings from that period.
Marc has also completed much loved music videos including 'Satellite' and 'Antz' for HamsandwicH, 'Cruel', 'Come On', and 'The Well Runs Dry' for artist Cat Dowling, and 'Come On' for the band I'm From Barcelona as well as a host of others.
