The Hardcore Priests of Yemen

Alternative // Galway, Galway

The Hardcore Priests of Yemen are seven piece funk/ska/trad outfit based in Galway City. We love to music to dance, crowds to play for and...well.. cardboard. Our style fuses reggae beats, trad undertones and funk licks to create a sound that is 100% frown proof! We gig regularly around Galway City, occasionally around the country and internationally from time to time(Japanese tour planned for next year!) We have a vision to create more visual, interactive live shows that fuse our love of theatre with our love of music and get audiences really involved in the process. We Love to do it and We'd love to to do it for you!

They recently were the victors in The Townhouse Bar's BATTLE OF THE BANDS, winning the 10,000 euro prize. They are releasing our E.P. "Revenge of the Clashman" next month for free download with Alkalinear records and are going into the studio, ahead of their summer dates, in march to record their new album.
They released their E.P. " Cabinets of Curiosity" across the internet and record shops(Wingnut records) last year and they have been enjoying numerous gigs in glasgow, dublin, galway and cork for the last few years. They operate on a TEAT basis ( Try everything all the time!) and their gigs promise to produce a variety of themes, a celebration of artwork and props and an energetic fusion of Ska, Punk, Funk, Jazz, Trad, Blugrass and Bounce.

The band is a mash of individual and colourful members: Jakob Schazzman (Drums), Jen Fox (Violin, Djembe, xylophone) , Gwen Dring (Flute/vocals), Sean Hatton (Mandoline), Gerard Hatton (Bass and Vocals).,Béibhinn O'Conner(cello/vocals) and Féilim O'hAoláin aka Demitri le Foit(Lead vocals/guitar/clarinet/synth)

This year has been the busiest so far for the Hardcore Priests of Yemen. With a growing repetoire bursting full of songs to record; the online release of the new E.P.,a new Album on the way(like a child in the womb!) music video being shot in Ailwee Caves , a P.R. deal with CRUX,more visuals elements being brought to the live shows, festivals on their way, and write ups in papers such as Drop D music mag!

We are available for most type of events/festivals and venues and our fee can be discussed. For our full stage show(sets/props and costume) to come to your event there would be slightly extra costs as it involves a lot more logistics in terms of transport, construction and maintanance. We can customize to the event in question weather it be a festival tent or a wedding and are also available for acoustic sessions and block parties.
