Aaron James

Pop // Stillorgan, Dublin

Aaron James has been writing since his teenage years and in 2006 he recorded and co-produced his debut album. Entitled “Distance Between” the album was recorded in the same studio (Cauldron) and by the same engineer/producer (Ciaran Byrne) as Mercury nominee Lisa Hannigan’s “Sea Sew” album. The album was released locally in 2008 along with lead single “Carry Me Through”.

Aaron insisted on drafting in the most respected musicians in Ireland to realise his vision of each meticulously crafted arrangement; with moving organs and luscious strings the album ebbs and flows. A unique voice and particular accent delivers an honest lyric on stand out tracks “Carry Me Through”, “Tap”, “Heartfelt Message” and “No Prisoner”.

The track “No Prisoner” was selected from 500 entries by a leading synchronisation company from the US and played at a listening session at Midem 2009 as an example of music that would be used by music supervisors.

Aaron’s song “Carry Me Through” was awarded the Best Song Arrangement at the Pompeii Music Festival in Italy in 2007. When this track was released in Ireland as a radio single it received excellent support from regional radio stations such as 98FM, Spin 1038, Galway Bay and WLR FM. This track has also been picked up by a recording artist in Belgium called Guillame Devos and will feature on his forthcoming album.

Aaron is writing new material continuously and is as comfortable writing with other performers in mind as he is on stage delivering his own compositions to an audience. New demos are being recorded weekly and Aaron is building up tracks for a second album.

On stage Aaron has a genuine presence and will often perform solo acoustically. His live experience includes playing venues around Ireland as well as supporting the likes of Aslan, John Spillane, Mundy, Suddyn, Natty Wailer of The Wailers and Mik Pyro lead singer of Republic of Loose.
