Pop // Bray, Wicklow // She/Her

Self-described as a ‘pink-haired pop-goth with a name that’s a pain to pronounce’, AILSHA (El-sha) writes about things in life that we should all laugh- rather than cry- about. Ireland’s answer to Lily Allen, AILSHA is no stranger to putting cheeky lyrics to music. With songs about ‘f***boys’, ‘ghosting’, setting up a trolling OnlyFans account and more, her songs deliver a witty vulnerability to which many can relate.

The daughter of composer, Shaun Davey (The Brendan Voyage), Rita Connolly (Granuaile) and sister of Cathy Davey (Tales of Silversleeve), the Wicklow native spent her childhood learning to compose and writing comedy. At the age of eleven she taught herself to produce and eventually merged music with comedy in her teenage years. Today, her signature ‘goth pop’ style has been described as ‘Horror Disney’, a statement which she believes is her crowning achievement to date.

Her debut single, ‘FBOY’, was #1 in the Irish iTunes Charts and was praised for its quirky production and lyrics. The release was followed by many headline shows as she established her playful live persona across Ireland. As a result, she was voted one of the country’s ‘Most Promising’/‘Ground-Breaking Female’ Artists in Hot Press' Hottie ’22 Awards. This gave her the kick up the backside that she needed to release new music.

As a child, AILSHA often dreamt of becoming a video games composer. In 2021 she fulfilled that dream and now is the official composer for Big Brother: The Game.
