Imagine what Frank Turners new album would sound like if he listened exclusively to Queen for a year, and then asked Future Islands to perform the songs. You wouldn't be too far away from the sound of Fermanagh's Anto and The Echoes, an Alternative Rock act known for their incendiary live shows and eclectic song writing. Drawing influence old-school hard-hitting rock anthems and tempering them slightly with flavours of modern Indie Synth-Pop, the music is cathartic yet heartening, melancholic yet uplifting, and underlined by a pop sensibility; ensuring attendance, and dancing like no-one is watching, at one of their shows a necessity.
Lead singer Anto Breen cut his teeth on the Irish D.I.Y Punk scene many moons ago and this heritage lingers still as he regularly captivates audiences with his emotive acrobatics and no bullshit, honest-to-goodness song writing. Ably assisted by his band, who are invigorated by his theatrics, Anto has crafted a formidable mix of timeless songs and scintillating live performance. He bottles none of his emotion, every show is his own unique outpouring of love, frustration, and joy, a concoction that has entranced, and liberated, audiences the country over.
First formed in early 2016, Anto and The Echoes played their first gig on July 2nd 2016 to a full capacity hometown crowd in Charlie's Bar, Enniskillen. The show was a roaring success and since then the band have only gone from strength to strength, playing numerous shows around the country and in their adopted home city of Belfast. These include headline slots in: Enniskillen, Omagh, Derry, Strabane, Portrush, and Dublin as well as The Empire, The Oh Yeah Centre and Belfast Culture Night.
