Aoife Moriarty

Neofolk // Dublin, Dublin // She/her

Aoife Moriarty is a singer-songwriter, composer, and former fashion designer based in Dublin, Ireland. Her music blends a jazz-folk sensibility with impressionistic lyrics, drawing from acoustic storytelling traditions, early indie pop, and a theatrical streak rooted in performance and visual craft.

Raised in the suburbs of Dublin and classically trained before veering into songwriting, Aoife spent years teaching, travelling, and eventually stepping away from music altogether—only to return to it with sharper clarity and purpose. Her creative path has zigzagged through songwriting, textile design, yoga teaching, and back to the piano, bringing with it a perspective shaped by both precision and play.

After releasing her debut album Dolls and Jigsaws in 2009 to critical acclaim, Aoife stepped back from performing, unsure of where music still fit. A decade and a half later, and after what she describes as “a lot of living,” she’s back with Artefact—a forthcoming album written entirely on guitar, her “other” instrument, to sidestep muscle memory and unearth something raw. The songs delve into memory, longing, childlessness, absurdity, and love in its stranger forms, with arrangements that nod to classic folk, vintage rock, and jazz.

Touring Artefact in 2025, Aoife returns to the stage with a stripped-back show and a rekindled sense of purpose—sharing songs that took years to finish, stories worth sitting with, and a voice both weathered and wry, shaped by time and an eye for the quietly profound.
