Aongus Mac Amhlaigh, is a cellist, singer and arranger from Donegal, who grew up singing traditional Sean Nos songs and playing fiddle and classical cello. He has collaborated, recorded and performed music with a wide variety of musicians such as The Beautiful South, Le Boom, AE Mak, Niamh Bury, The Scratch, Pierce Turner, Ispini na hEireann, Kila, Danu, Inni-K, Varo, Nocturnes/Pierce McGloughlin, Darrgh Lynch (Lankum) and Iona Zajac, Best Girl Athlete, Resurgam, the Palestrina choir, the RTE philharmonic choir to singer songwriters such as and has supported musicians in various bands such as Peter Greene of Fleetwood Mac, UB40 and Richard Hawley.
As a solo artist he has played Spike Cello festival, Altogether Now, Other Side festival, Electric Picnic, as well as performing his songs with members of the BBC Scotland Symphony and Royal Scottish National Orchestras.
