A Scene from JAWS

A Scene from JAWS is a Berlin post-punk band dedicated to getting bodies moving. Inspired by midnight horror movies, alternative rock and big room EDM, they create cinematic songs where synth and electric guitar battle it out over mathematical grooves. Their first single, “You” was featured on Indie Music Nation's May 2018 playlist. The newest single, "June Rain" was released 29 January 2019.

Formed while frontman and songwriter Declan Hyland was in film school, his background in cinema brings a tight narrative structure to his songwriting. Shane Whelan's EDM basslines and Ian Murphy's jazz-influenced drumming give the music direction and energy, while Kay Finan's improvisational synth sound adds a distinctly moody atmosphere. Their shows mix the giddy haze of a dance club with the fast pace and dark humour of a midnight horror film.

Their upcoming release features a number of pop songs alongside some moody deeper cuts, recorded at WhiteWell Studios and Planet Earth Studios Berlin with producer Ciaran O’Shea.
