BANYAH are a Wicklow, Ireland based electronic duo who after working separately on their own projects for years, brother and sister, Paul & Aisling Jarvis, have joined together to take on the world - whether it's performing their songs live, DJing or playing smaller acoustic sets.
Aisling, under her real name, has previously released a well received solo album which earned her many collaborations with
Trance DJs across the world. She has since been sculpting her craft as a producer and
mixing engineer at Shire Studios, where she is also the head sound engineer.
Paul, who goes by Kipunji, has gained a large amount of support for his
melodic electronica releases. His first single 'Fortress' has over a million streams on Spotify.
The two have always had their ears in different genres but always knew that there
would be something special if they combined forces. Now that they are both finished touring with Clannad for the last 5 years, the duo are ready to kick the BANYAH project into top gear. Their ethos is all about having fun with the music, whilst attempting to make catchy, energetic electronic pop.
The duos first ever gig was closing out Swell Festival 2018 on Aranmore Island, Co. Donegal where they DJed for 3 hours - banging out anything and everything that kept the people grooving. Nothing Free, their debut single was then released and well received, earning them two gigs at Cork Jazz Festival 2019 (DJing & debut live show). They hit the studio to hone in and construct a more established sound in 2020 which saw two further singles, Stuck Under and Watch You Go, the latter sampling their Mother's voice and harp playing. These offered a far more defined sonic vision. The duo released three tracks in 2021 - a remix of Afro-Brazilian, Bristol-based band, Soma Soma and two collaborative singles with artists, BENJAMYN & Conor Hamilton-Long, both of which were written on a First Music Contact songwriting camp.
2023 saw BANYAH get back to playing live, including performances at Electric Picnic, Letterkenny Pride, 'The Next Big Thing' Festival at The Workman's Club and headline show at BelloBar.
2024 has so far seen them play support for Siights in Whelan's and what's on the horizon is very exciting, the duo are playing an acoustic set at Glastonbury Festival 2024. They are also planning a headline show for their debut EP launch in Dublin for July 2024
They may not have released in 2022 and only once in 2023 but that doesn’t mean they weren’t working away behind the scenes. Mid 2024 will see the duo’s debut EP, ‘Going in Circles’, a collection of singles, one of which is already released, - Too Easy. It's set to be released in July.
