Barefoot Gypsies are a free spirited alt/indie folk act from Cork, Ireland brandishing raw, honest and untamed original songs from the soul.
Playing festivals such as Electric Picnic, Fuinneamh, Healing Bridges and Kinsale Arts Weekend as well as many intimate shows around the country and internationally the duo are a lease of new life and a breath of fresh air. They often feature guest musicians and work with different visual elements.
Led by Luc O'Rourke, Barefoot Gypsies dance between fiery mysticism and cold reality. Melting genres, vibes and emotional landscapes together, these wildlings take their audiences from the solemn depths of despair to howling fits of giggles in the blink of an ear.
Luc plays multiple instruments, writes and sings.
Bobbi weaves in etheric and angelic vocals to the mix, with some percussive elements too.
Sprinkled in amongst the musical pieces are bold & embodied spoken-word performances which range from verbal nature-baths to hearty calls for inner revolution and the unleashing of our wild, free and authentic selves.
The band’s debut single “Be Free” has been well received, gaining national and international radio play as well as featuring in playlists such as Golden Plec, Amazing Radio US and Spotify’s Release Radar as well as podcast features the likes of TPOE and Discover TV South Africa. The song captures some of Barefoot Gypsies core values with easy listening, evocative vibes as well as a catchy and uplifting chorus.
