Dublin based hedonistic rock’n’rollers ‘Battle Skies’ formed initially as recording project in 2019 between frontman/chief songwriter Darren Shanley and lead guitarist Vinny Duggan (ex The Things / Howlin’Dowlin).
Early song writing session lead to the recording of ‘The Horizon’ four track EP which was self recorded by the band and produced /mixed / mastered by Colm Rutledge (ex Humanzi and Mighty Stef). The debut EP showcased a diverse range of songwriting from indie (Like a Drum, White Line Fever), shoe gaze (Leave it Behind) and high energy garage punk (Psycho).
Following the release the band then expanded with the recruitment John Lawlor (drums) and Ross Graham (bass) which completed the line up. Both new members injection an intensity to the Battle Skies sound which was evident as the band took to the stage for their well received live debut in February 2020.
In April 2020 the band released a surprise track ‘Sea of Love’ which was assembled during COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.
The band plans to record a follow up to their debut EP and to bring their must see live set to as many venues as possible when normal service resume.
