Big Sleep are a Dublin based indie-alternative band who spent the last two years playing to packed out rooms of a steady-growing and dedicated fan-base until the lockdowns came along. The 4 piece formed when frontman, Rónán, entered a Battle of the Bands as a singer-songwriter. He reconnected with some old bandmates and was introduced to some new ones to form the current line up: Matteo Poli on percussion, Evin O’Connor on lead guitar, Rónán Connolly on vocals and rhythm guitar and Dougie Sealy on bass.
Right up until COVID restrictions the band was flat out with multiple gigs a week in venues across the city including Workman’s, Sound House, WigWam, Grand Social, the Sugar Club and a sold-out headline show in Whelan’s Upstairs in January 2020. They are quickly gaining a reputation for their explosive live shows and soulful, rhythmic originals, supporting notable acts such as Robert John Ardiff and Post Party.
Big Sleep filled the void that the absence of live shows left with recording and writing new material in the last year and are eager to share what they’ve been working on in the coming months. The band has a busy summer of recording and song releases lined up while remaining ever-hopeful that they can get back to their pre COVID plans that included an Irish and Italian tour to visit the homelands of Sligo-man, O’Connor and the Florentine, Poli. Big Sleep’s latest single, 'Tattoos', went live on June 16th, following the release of their mellow yet groove driven track, Tall Stories in January 2021.
