Blind Poets

Folk // Cork

Blind Poet’s music lies somewhere between neo classical contemporary celtic folk and contemporary world music sound; a music which entwines the traditional and the modern. Niamh's beautifully crafted songs, enriched by gloriously warm harmonies culminate in a hauntingly intimate and magical atmosphere. Add masterful accompaniment from guitarist Leo and violinist Karen (Mick Flannery), and the intricate musicality of Blind Poets' sound is bound to impress. Upcoming appearances include the Galway Fringe, Altogether Now and the Cork Folk Festival.

Launched in Cork in December 2017, Blind Poets are a new collaborative project featuring the musical skills of Niamh Murphy, Karen O'Doherty, Leo Mullane, Tom Jordan and Katie O'Neill. To date, they have released four original tracks, all of which have had airplay on Irish National Radio stations including RTE Radio 1, Today FM, Lyric Fm, 2 FM, as well as many regional stations.

With an album in the works, they hope to release their debut in February 2019. Working with top producers such as Karl Odlum, Christian Best, Ronan McCann (Carried By Waves) and Quantum Thief Audio (Karen O’Doherty), Blind Poets have created a unique sound from provocatively dark new age celticism to soothing lullaby laments
