Blood or Whiskey are from Kildare & Dublin, Ireland and mix Traditional Irish music with Punk Rock, the band have released 3 albums 'Blood or Whiskey' (2000), 'No time to explain' (2002), and 'Cashed Out On Culture' (2005).
The first few years of the band was spent playing all around Ireland perfecting their own unique sound, before taking it seriously and setting their sights outside the Emerald Isle.
Trips all over England, Europe and America have followed in the last few years and to date the band have toured and played with many artists including Manu Chao, The Pogues, Rancid, Anti - Flag, The Stranglers, Dropkick Murphys, Stiff Little fingers, Levellers, The Beat, Bad Manners, Misfits and Hayseed Dixie to name but a few.
Blood or Whiskey have also had some very difficult times along the way with original vocalist Barney Murray leaving in 2002, Jim Borek going to prison in 2003 and Tin Whistle player Alan Confrey dying suddenly in 2006.
The band have also recently come out of a 3 year legal battle with their former record label, in the process getting the masters to the ‘Cashed out on Culture’ album returned to the group.
2009 finds the band regrouped, in great shape and fighting fit, as a taster an EP ‘Live and Learn’ was released in February 2009.
Things are looking bright again for the band that has had more than its share of ups and downs over the years, but still has the determination, and desire to keep spreading the Blood or Whiskey sound worldwide.
October 2012 sees the release of the 4th studio album "Blood Or Whiskey On The Rocks", prior to that the band play a few select gigs (Rebellion Festival, Blackpool Aug 4th, Reading & Leeds Aug 25th/26th. They round off the year opening for Rancid at the Academy Dublin on Nov 29th.
