Bowden

Bowden are a band that nearly aren't a band.
A band makes music, this feels like much more than that to them.

They see the music they make, not as throwaway pieces but as intense and fleeting snapshots into their lives.
The music means everything to them, it is their reason for knowing each other.
They give everything to their music but expect nothing from it.

Bowden are a five piece alt-indie band and Cork based, consisting of Steve on drums, Kevin on bass and backing vocals, Ken on lead guitar and piano, multi- instrumentalist Ger and vocalist and guitarist Padraig.

They met through college and the local music scene around Cork, eventually giving into the compulsion they felt to make music as a group.
Theirs is a mixture of origin stories from classical, choir and trad to punk and rock and has led to an identifiable Bowden sound.

They tend towards the melodic in general whilst also injecting some rhymthic urgency into the equation.
At once quiet and loud, saying nothing and everything.
Born of the likes of Big Star, Midlake, Pavement, Tame Impala, Radiohead and Villagers.

Right now is the start of their adventure, they have gigs planned through the upcoming months and festival appearances at the likes of Bandon and Clonmel through the summer.

Songs have been recorded and are set for release under the guidance of producer Christian Best (Mick Flannery, O Emperor, Susan O'Neill) at Monique Studio.
All of this is leading up to their debut album “Mock Orange”, due for release later this year.

Their debut single “Peel” mastered by Philip Shaw Bova (Fr. John Misty, Andy Shauf, Angel Olsen)will be available on all platforms on the 28th of April 2023.

They are always available on Instagram and Twitter @bowdenband.
