Boxty Rebellion

Folk // Dublin

The Boxty Rebellion, formed in 2011, have rapidly become the leading Irish / Celtic music band playing multiple gigs weekly in and around Shanghai and Suzhou in China.

In September 2011 the band became a resident band at O’Malley’s Irish Pub in Shanghai where they continue to play weekly. Other regional gigs include the LOFT (Suzhou), Suzhou’s Concert In The Park, Blarney Stone Sessions (Shanghai) and the Brussels Bar (Suzhou).

Some of the highlights of their inaugural year were being invited to Shanghai, China, to perform as the head-liner for the Bloomsday Festival 2011 celebrations and also at the official opening of the Irish Center in Shanghai. On 17th March 2012 they performed at the St. Patrick's celebrations Féile Shanghai 2012 and also a sell-out performance at O’Malley’s Irish Pub on St. Patrick’s Day. The Féile Shanghai 2012 organizers referred to their performance as 'awesome' and one of the best acts at the 2012 festival.
