"Belfast-based Elizabeth McGeown created singer-songwriter alterego Candy and decided to write her own songs, focusing disconcertingly on birds, bad luck and swamps. These uniquely crafted songs - created completely acapella, with instrumentation added afterwards by others leading to an unfettered focus on voice and lyrics - strike a balance between acoustic folk and jazz, performed live as a two-piece. After a hiatus caused by the emigration of previous guitarist Chris, the 2015 addition of Debbie McCormack from Belfast pop four-piece Vokxen has added a fresh set of influences to the sound, not least Nick Cave and Lana Del Rey."
