cable.percussion (Johnny McDowell) is a Dublin-based electronic music producer, active since early 2023.
(29yo, male, he/him, LGBTQ+, half-Irish half-Korean)

Debuting in June 2023 at Dublin Modular's Pride Yard Party, cable.percussion quickly gained local attention for his unique style of music and particularly energetic live performances.

Showcased in his debut EP, the independently released 'C.PERC' (Aug '23), cable.percussion's music is brimming with otherworldly acid basslines and playful melodies over frenetic and often aggressive beats, all of which is performed live using a drum machine / sampler and synthesizers (no laptop or decks).

cable.percussion's sound is stimulating, forward-thinking and unique, and contains traces of electronic genres including electro, jungle, techno, hyper-pop, glitch and IDM while not quite fitting neatly under any of these labels.

Since his debut performance, cable.percussion has played shows regularly around Dublin including: supporting FM Attack at Whelan's; supporting Dublin-based band Shakalak at Sin É; and playing with Dublin-based collectives 'Live&Electric', 'Dublin Modular', 'Áise agus Éire', and 'Dissolve'.

cable.percussion's debut EP and hardware-sequencing methods of music production brought him to the attention of Dublin-based label 'Aduaine', with whom he released his second EP 'Chrysalis' (Jan '24), followed by his debut LP '303 Mechanics' (Aug '24). This was shortly followed by a 5-track EP 'XYZ' released on Icelandic label 'Intellitronic Bubble' (Sep '24).

Since then he has had tracks feature on three various artists compilations (Aduaine, Intellitronic Bubble, Tripalium Corp). His next release will be a LP called 'Acroplastics' to be released with Belfast label 'Computer Controlled Records' and is scheduled for release in April 2025.
