CRISPR Kid

CRISPR Kid are a Dublin based 4-piece guitar band who released their debut E.P. 'Fresno Rescue Mission' in December 2019 and performed blistering gigs at The Sound House, Whelan’s ‘Ones To Watch 2020’ and their first headline show at Lost Lane, Dublin in late January 2020.

They finished their debut album 'Down with the Kid' in September 2021. The band released their rhythmic indie-thumper 'Blitzkrieg' as the first single from this record in October 2021 and have followed it up with 'First Responder' in January '22 which has been well received throughout.
Battery Boy came out in April '22 with the full LP releasing on 29th April. The band marked their Vinyl Release with a bang at Grand Social on 31st March, and a streaming launch show in Whelans on 16th June.

Home-recordists Padraic Sweeney (singer) and bassist Stephen Browne had been songwriting since 2019 and brought thundering Brazilian drummer Romulo Passos into the fold that summer. The mercurial Gary Mackey slotted in on lead guitar to make up the 4-piece in August 2020 and the band began recording DWTK as an EP at Darklands Studios in November 2020 under the guidance of engineering ace, Daniel Doherty.
A purple-patch ensued and the Down with the Kid project expanded into a full LP as the lockdown persisted.
CRISPR Kid have just finished recording a follow-up EP for April 2023 release with new guitarist Joaquin Horchelaro who replaced departing Mackey in 2022.

It’s been a busy start to 2023 with shows at Alibi TV live broadcast on 28th Feb; Friday March 3rd headlining The Main Room @Workmans, and a support for Buzzkills at Soundhouse in 18th March.
Next performance is opening for Alexz Johnson at Whelans on 23rd May.

It's no accident that the band's name alludes to the controversial C.R.I.S.P.R. gene editing phenomenon. They decided to democratize their own genes - mixes to be precise - by posting the recorded stems on the day of releases for free on CrisprKid.com - thus allowing up and coming producers/engineers to attempt their own versions.
Teachers at BIMM and BIFE music courses have posted footage of their students re-mixing Blitzkreig on their socials tagging the band.
