Daniel J.Gillen - Music Producer

Other // Galway

Over the last ten years Daniel J.Gillen has produced numerous artists at home and abroad. He began his musical career in 1997 playing with his first band, WEB, in Galway, Ireland. After producing the band's critically acclaimed debut album 'The Coming Of the Sage', at just 19 years of age, he realised that he had a flair for production and a talent for getting the very best out of bands and artists.

In these early days Daniel worked with the renowned engineer and producer, Kenny Ralph of Sun Street Studios in Tuam, Co. Galway, who has worked with many of Ireland's top artists.
Working closely with Kenny, Daniel gained valuable experience and production skills, which he has since honed and developed to the very highest standards.

In 2007, Daniel co-produced two hit singles ‘Tanglewood’ and 'Congratulations' with new Irish band The Kanyu Tree. The first of these singles reached #17 in The Irish Singles Charts in 2007. They were later signed to Columbia Records, and their success continues.

Daniel moved to New York later that year in search of new talent and a fresh approach. He ended up producing three tracks for legendary punk/reggae outfit, Jux.

However, it wasn't long before another project inspired Daniel back home. The 2009 Volvo Ocean Race Stopover in Galway presented him with a great opportunity to compose and produce a theme song for the festival. Co-written with Galway artist, Emmet O' Malley, the song 'Men Of The Sea' was a huge success and received much acclaim and radio play in Ireland. There are plans for the single to be officially released next year.

In early 2011, Daniel began working with aclaimed Irish singer song writer Emmet O' Malley on his debut album. "Playtime" was released in November of the same year. The album has received rave reviews in Ireland and the UK and Emmet is now moving to London in Febuary 2012 on the back of this sucess.
