Deer Park is an alt-country collective formed around Irish-born singer, songwriter and guitarist Mark Christopher Grassick. Alongside Grassick is Lizzy O'Connor on vocals, mandolin, percussion and banjo and Matthew Boulter on lap steel, guitar and vocals.
The band released their debut record in 2009 with help from members of The Oxygen Ponies, Woodpigeon and Stagecoach . The 32-minute slice of country tinged folk (or is that folk tinged country?) was mastered by Billy Stull (Okkervil River, Centro-matic, Midlake) and featured artwork by Julie Miller (Centro-matic) and Jesse Le Doux (The Shins, Modest Mouse, Elliott Smith, Iron & Wine).
In the months since the record's release, the band have toured with the likes of The Acorn, Ted Leo, John Vanderslice, Harper Simon, The Fruit Bats, Elliott BROOD and Common Prayer (ex-Mercury Rev).
