Dirty Words combine the energy and passion of spoken-word poetry with melodic rock and jazz influences. The band consists of award-winning poet Colin Hassard and multi-instrumentalists Ashley Manners and Seonaid Murray. Their first single 'Wake Up' received international airplay and was a Track of the Day on BBC Radio Ulster's Across the Line.
Dirty Words released their debut album 'Age of the Microwave Dinner' in 2018 at a special launch event as part of the Eastside Arts Festival. They followed this up by gigging with Duke Special who they shared the stage with during the Imagine Festival's Democracy Day 2019 celebration.
As well as this, the band have performed in the Ulster Museum, at the C.S. Lewis Festival, Sunflowerfest, the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival and at the closing ceremony of the NI Human Rights Festival.
