Elikya means 'Hope' in Lingala, one of the D.R Congo's four main languages.

Elikya began in 2001 with a project initiated by Doras Luimni (organisation for refugees and asylum seekers) and the Irish World Music Academy at the university of Limerick. Today Elikya comprises of members from the D.R Congo, Angola, South Africa, America and Ireland. We have performed at numerous events including the opening of the Special Olympics in Limerick, Amnesty International concerts, The Royal Irish Academy and World AIDS Awareness day events. In addition, we entertain at private functions, weddings and also our very own concerts. We also run Intercultural Music Education Workshops in schools and colleges.

As of 2018, legendary Congolese Guitarist and innovator Pepe Felly Manuaku has joined Elikya as Musical Director. Elikya are proud to perform alongside "Le Magcien" of the guitar Pepe Felly Manuaku as he celebrates his 50th year in Music. In addition to the classics of Pepe Felly's back catalog the band are also busy preparing for the release of 2 new recordings coming out this year. The first being "Mise à jour" being released on Hipdrop Records very soon.
