ESSIRAY

Pop // Meath // She/her

ESSIRAY, also known as 24-year-old Rachel Murphy, is a singer, songwriter, and producer who crafts her unique brand of Indie Pop. With saccharine vocals, sleek harmonies, and diaristic lyrics, she creates a fresh and distinctive sound. Drawing inspiration from a variety of genres like Pop, DnB, RnB, and Neo Soul, Rachel's music takes on a captivating and original character.

Rachel's journey in music began as an Opera Singer, but her passion for songwriting and producing led her to change course. In May 2022, she took a leap by releasing her debut single, 'City.' Since then, she has released four more singles, two of which she produced and mixed herself, 'Summer Fling' and 'City'

Following the release of her first single, Rachel has been actively performing in and around Dublin, including notable gigs such as supporting Los Angeles-based artist Miya Folick at the Grand Social Dublin, performing at 'The Next Big Thing Festival' in Workmans in January and most recently Forbidden Fruit.. Her first headline show at The Workman's Club in June was a tremendous success.

Rachel's music has garnered attention from prominent blogs like Hotpress, Nialler9, Golden Plec, Notion, and her latest single found its way onto Spotify's 'New Music Friday' playlist as well as 'Fresh Finds: Pop.' Influenced by artists such as Big Piig, Hope Tala, Pip Millet, Amber Mark, and Charlie XCX, Rachel continues to explore and evolve her unique musical style. Her tracks have been featured on BBC Introducing, and her latest single, 'Floating Up,' was selected as track of the week on Tracy Clifford's show on RTE2FM.
