Gerald Ahern is an 18-year-old singer/songwriter from Cork City. He has been developing his skill in his art since the age of 10 when he began his musicianship. At this early age Gerald joined country music group The Wee Amigos who toured England, Ireland & Scotland for over 4 years. They gained nationwide stardom hitting over 4 million views on their Youtube video’s and winning such awards as
• Hot Country Horizon Award 2012,
• Tipp FM Country Act Of The Year 2012,
• INEC Killarney Best Country Act 2012
• West Limerick 102FM Irelands Youngest Entertainers 2012.
He is most recognised from his appearance on The Late Late Show. Gerald was the most energetic character in the band and soon began acting for a small period featuring in the horror/comedy movie starring Ross Noble Stitches. The movie went on to feature on Netflix.
After this Gerald swayed away from the country music scene and went on to join a pop boyband in Scotland. The band worked with such musicians as Jess Glynn & Little Mix and wrote with artists such as Bobby from The Bluebells. After touring with artists such as The Brooks, Bailey McConnell and their appearance in the 2016 Xfactor Gerald returned home.
Gerald started working on his own material and after a short period signed a management deal with his current manager Dave from Live Events. They worked together to create Gerald’s debut single Holiday which gained nationwide airplay and popularity in 5 different countries with over 98 hours stream time.
Shortly after this release while on tour in Scotland Gerald received the news that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer. This led to Gerald writing his next single Stay Strong which was made with a vision of raising much needed funds for local Cork cancer charities. The single raised over €3,000 and the music video gained over 66,000 views online.
Gerald has supported such artists as Billy Ocean, Hothouse Flowers, Ryan Sheridan, Picture This, Bagatelle, Colin Raye & many more. Just this year Gerald played at The Indiependence Music & Arts Festival in Mitchelstown with his band who are all childhood friends and amazing artists.
After a few months of gigging and writing Gerald found the direction he was happy with and so his Indie pop/funk sound was born. Shortly after this Gerald and his team flew to the world-famous Parr Street Studios in Liverpool to record brand new music.
Gerald’s first track from the new era is called Fish In The Sky and was released on May 11th with a high impact music video and with the official release in Cyrpus Avenue, Cork City on June 7th. The song tells a story of Gerald leaving home to head to Scotland for the start of his new music career but he didn’t get to see his family or friends and missed feeling part of society. It shows the overwhelming feeling of coming home. No matter what happens in life or how bad things get along the way home will always be home.
Gerald’s second single Ghost was released on August 19th and has been hitting the airwaves by storm getting playlisted by RTE Radio and Corks RedFM and receiving radio time from KCLR, WLR, Galway Bay FM and 2XM.
Gerald’s debut album “From The Streets Of Pana To Grand Parade” was officially launched in Cyprus Avenue, Cork on Feb 16th.
