Gerr Walsh (pronounced Jerr) is an Irish Indie Folk artist who first gained attention with his debut EP Prevailing Winds in 2016. His follow-up album, Ghosts of Hope & Magic, released in 2021, received critical acclaim and garnered substantial support from Irish national radio, with notable backing from RTE Radio 1 DJs such as Cathal Murray, John Creedon, Lilian Smith, and Fiachna Ó Braonáin. His music also featured prominently on RTE’s Ireland in Music, broadcast globally.
Tony Clayton-Lea of The Business Post gave Ghosts of Hope & Magic 3.5 stars, praising it as “fluid, cinematic, and seductive,” drawing comparisons to bands like Elbow and The Blue Nile. Gerr’s live performances have been widely acclaimed, with recent shows supporting Gemma Hayes, Paddy Casey, and a joint performance with Naimee Coleman at Whelan’s in July 2024. He also appeared on The Ray Darcy Show in October 2024.
