I grew up on the wild west coast of Ireland where I was fascinated by the myths and folktales of the mountains and islands. I studied jazz in Dublin before winning a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. I graduated with a degree in composition and moved to London, where I quickly came to the attention of the legendary Ninja Tune label. I joined the Bonobo live band and spent several years touring the world playing synthesizer and Rhodes piano. I have also worked as a session musician with artists such as Khruangbin, Rough Fields and Kinny. I completed a master’s degree in music production at HKU Utrecht, and while living in Amsterdam I created my Strawboy project, mixing Irish folk storytelling with samples from my extensive record collection. I spent a summer on a residency in Paris at the Cité internationale des arts, where I became deeply interested in Gnosticism and the occult. With my new project Gracehoper, now based in Geneva, I aim to inspire a spiritual revolution through esoteric symbolism and radical mystery in music.
