GUSH

Grunge // Belfast, Antrim

GUSH don’t trade in volume without intent: distortion is a primary palette, urgency the hard-won proof of life. ‘Your World’ served as their bloodstream moment: punk-beauty with a pop instinct dragged through grit, with shades of The Stooges, Queens of the Stone Age, The Distillers, Hole flashing in the glare. ‘Empathology’ turns the contrast up and reveals the real spellwork: down-tuned and harmonically sly, carrying a Deftones-at-dusk glow where the song feels like it’s purging as it ascends.

The engine room is a closed fist - Rab and Darren locking the floor in a tectonic grip - while Robby’s guitar work moves like a second nervous system: restraint, then jagged surge. Both fronting and centring the chaos, Chelsea Andrews wields a voice that can level a room, then tilt into something gossamer and dangerously unguarded. When she sings “Take her instead and save me,” it’s a flare sent up from the wreckage. Big-room scale, close-range truth.

The band have featured on Spotify’s Alt_IE editorial playlist, have been added to BBC Radio Ulster & Foyles ‘Where Music Matters’ playlist, hit the airwaves with Dan Hegarty on RTE2FM, BBC Introducing and BBC Precious Metal, as well as featuring in Hot Press coveted A&R Department and coverage from Ragged Cast, Golden Plec, Genuine Irish, First Music Contact, Pure M Zine, Chordblossom. 2025 has seen the band complete their first Irish tour alongside festival appearances at GazeFest, Sligo Live, and Girls With Guts Festival.
