Named for the iconic landmark found on Belfast's Black Mountain, Hatchet Field (HF) is the new folk project of Northern Irish musician's Hornby and Steve Anderson.
What began as a solo endeavour for Hornby to explore purposefully simple songwriting and storytelling, almost inevitably led to him reuniting with his former WeAreKnives bandmate, over a shared lifelong love of creativity and musical challenge.
Born of a desire to create music radically different to what they had done before, HF is fuelled by an obsession with historically important artists such as Ola Belle Reed and Roscoe Holcombe; and the literary works of authors like Harry Crews and John Steinbeck.
