Derived from folk and singer/songwriter acoustic styles, the music of Heliopause has entered into the realms of subtle pop, creating epic soundscapes with elements of electronic backing tracks, soaring ethereal vocals, guitars and catchy melodies.
Heliopause was begun by filmmaker and animator Richard Davis as a way of articulating those inexplicable intimate moments in life. Developing a personal, soft and heartfelt style of songwriting, his music has taken him from Belfast to Berlin and now to Brighton, constantly evolving with various members along the way.
Following various EP’s and singles, the band self-released their debut album, Walk into the Sea, in 2010 with great praise from the Northern Irish and Brighton scene. Heliopause have also been supported and played on air by BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio Foyle and BBC 6Music.
Their second album, THE LUMO TAPE was released in May 2012 and also has received great reviews. Being compared to the likes of Sigur Ros and Fourtet, it is full of electronic and vocal layers yet still retains the familiar qualities of the previous album.
This new direction has created a new excitement for the band, being asked to perform at various festivals in the UK aswell as being invited over to NXNE in Toronto last June.
