“O’Doherty is letting art and machine collide, exploring the potentials...maturing into an innovative, signature sound”
- Irish Echo
Ian O’Doherty is a reformed journeyman and is now a patron of his own Renaissance.
Since emerging as an Indie artist of note in 2013, O’Doherty has enjoyed much critical acclaim for his self released records (Never in Colour EP 2013; Heartbeats Shifting & Woven singles 2014), appeared regularly on the playlists and live session spots of radio stations Spin South West, RTE Radio One and Newstalk as well as composing the theme track for the internationally successful documentary “No Limbs, No Limits”.
Having spent the last two years touring successfully and extensively throughout Ireland (hence the journeyman status), sharing the stage with Walking On Cars, Ciaran Lavery, O Emperor, Gemma Hayes and touring with Paddy Casey in 2014, O’Doherty recognised a hunger in himself for a change, a reinvention of self...a renaissance.
Now, from a self-imposed exile of sorts, comes a dramatically morphed melting pot of experimental electronic soundscapes fused with traditional back line instruments sitting underneath O’Doherty’s recognisably rich layers of melodic and vocal phrasings.
O’Doherty has been successfully harvesting recordings of his reinvented self in Big Skin studios under the watchful eye of long time co-producer Brendan Fennessy for which release dates and accompanying tour dates are to be announced soon.
