Javier Carrillo (Javi) is an indie rock artist from Peru who blends atmospheric chords and introspective lyrics with influences from 80s and 90s rock bands (Toto, The Police, Radiohead) and Argentinian Rock Nacional legends (Charly Garcia, Fito Paez, Soda Stereo). He learned to play drums, guitar, and piano in his teens and honed his skills in Italy, where he lived for a while.
He moved to Ireland in 2013 and discovered his passion for music production. He joined BIMM’s songwriting programme and played guitar and drums for local bands like Darwin’s Daughter and NIMF.
In 2017, he released his debut single, “Talking Dogs”, a dreamy song about goodbyes. He followed it with “Life Itself” and “The Things You Take with You” and started performing with his band in Dublin venues.
His song “All My Life” won a UK production contest in 2020 and in 2021 he collaborated with Dublin producer Tully Gun on his single “No Sorrow”. He has also done YouTube collaborations with local artists Ella Mieri, Dayane Kin, and Kate Dineen.
In 2023, he is working on his first EP in his new recording studio, which he plans to release by the end of the year.
