Joe Allan is a 20 year old artist hailing from Derry in Northern Ireland. Raised in Stroke City, home to some of Ireland’s finest ever musical exports, it would always be a recurring theme in his early life and upbringing. At the age of 15, he began to play the local open mic scenes as he tried to forge a budding career during the beginning and height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, within this time he began studying Music Performance at North West Regional College in his hometown. Despite the limited supplies and opportunities within this era, in June 2022 he released debut single “Blackout Blinds” to a rousing chorus from friends, family and peers alike, resulting in a collection of headline shows that summer in various bars across the city, and even had a brief stint as an ambassador of his college, leading to appearances on billboards, buses and advertisements across the Derry area, in his own words “It was pretty weird seeing my face on the bus I’d take to get home everyday.”
In September 2023, Joe moved to Manchester in England, a place he calls home to date and home to some of his musical idols growing up. As he tries to find his feet in a new city, the talk around him and his music has been gradually getting louder day by day. Despite this, Allan reverts and stays true to his home towns most iconic lyric: Are teenage dreams so hard to beat?
