John Garvey is a singer/songwriter from Galway, now living in Limerick. He has been writing and performing songs for 10 years. John currently works as a music therapist after completing a Masters in Music Therapy from the University of Limerick. John has performed in many venues across Ireland including Bewley's cafe and The Button Factory in Dublin. He has also performed internationally where he was a finalist in the 'New Zealand National Songwriting competition'. In 2005 John entered the 'International song contest of Peace', where he won the prize for 'Best Irish Song'. More recently John won first prize in the Glinsk national song contest in July 2010, with his song 'You're Not Alone'. John gigs weekly, usually in and around the Limerick area. You will find him playing at 'The Whitehouse' bar on Tuesdays and 'The Locke' bar on Thursday nights. John shall be performing at the new Irish music festival 'Milk' in August 2010, see: www.milk2010.ie. He is currently working with a backing band and looks forward to recording his debut studio album towards the end of the summer.
