Køpe

Pop // Mullingar, Westmeath // MR

Køpe (Pronounced 'Cope') is the solo project of Mullingar native, Peter Whelan.
Before the 22 year old started releasing music at the start of the pandemic, he wanted to find a way to separate his college studies with his creativity and artist persona. The idea of an alias was then formed. Holding plenty of value, the four letters stand for each of Peter's family members; ('K' for his dad Kevin, and so on).

Embracing melodic pop whilst combining reflective lyrics with a soulful and distinctive voice, Køpe imbues the personal with a universality that is simultaneously both vulnerable and powerful; contrasting gentleness with defiance.
Inspiration lies behind artists such as Nick Murphy, Dijon and Ben Howard.
After Køpe's stellar headline show last year, he continues to work on another live production with his band for this year and locking in support slots around the city of Dublin.
Køpe is consistently working on new tracks and began releasing his first track from his debut EP, as he joins forces with Gregory Kearns.
